Bharatanatyam Arangetram | Divine Art Form | Through my Perspective

Admiring an art form through the medium of another art is an obeisance. I have immensely believed in the fact that the simplest joy in life is to be able to pursue your interests and love what you do. There’s nothing more satisfying than experiencing authentic joy emanating from the heart. For a person who’s love for travel began a decade ago, capturing the alluring beauty of landscapes across the country, photography is one entity that has been a source of immense joy. I enjoy visualizing a lot of stuff in my mind. For a photographer, it’s pivotal to have visualizations of the overall picture to be arrived at. All through my journey as a photographer, this one aspect of visualization is the core of all other aspects that drives the craze of Photography in me. It’s obvious that the different genres of photography require varied perspectives and thinking. From remote Himalayan regions to rich cultural heritage sites of the country to event photography in artificial lighting, it’s been a phenomenal journey!

ADMIRING ART THROUGH ART:

One of my favorite localities in Chennai is Mylapore, a word that is synonymous with religious and cultural heritage. Click here to know more about this cultural epicenter alongside engrossing narratives and spellbinding photographs.

Recently, my wife & I visited this iconic locality to attend a musical extravaganza showcasing Bharatnatyam Arangetram, an enactment that merges dance, music & drama. For a moment, I thought the Tamil month of Marghazhi arrived way too early. I was completely engrossed and mesmerized by the performances. Presenting the magnificent photographs visualized through my eyes and capture by my photographic device! These images are, specifically, optimized for viewing on digital devices. This photo series was made possible by a good friend of mine who invited us for the event. In fact, the dancer in these photographs is none other than his daughter. Kudos to her diligence! And I wish she continues to excel at this ancient Indian art form!

  1. Taking Photograph of Art Forms itself is an art. That too Bharathanatyam.. it is pure bliss and enjoyable… you enjoy a good performance and at the same time it is sportingly challenging in terms of Stage Lighting, Spot Lights, Dancer’s movements, Facial expressions , hand gestures and lots more.
    Timing is Essential / Critical.
